Basics About Edmonton Auto Detailing Industry

By Michael Williams

Auto detailing refers to the process of performing a thorough cleaning, restoration, and finishing of an automobile. These functions are performed on both the inside and outside the vehicle so as to attain a show-quality degree of detail. Edmonton auto detailing companies and professionals are highly qualified and experienced in this job. They achieve excellent results within a short time and charge affordable rates.

In locations where automobiles are the main transport means, auto detailing often has a big commercial presence. In the US alone, the industry is worth more than 9 million US Dollars. The global industry is much larger than this. Millions are employed in this industry to do different jobs. The size of this industry in a country often determines the size of the employee pool working in it.

Detailing of automobiles can be placed into two broad categories, that is, interior also called cabin and exterior. Each category has specific services and products that are used on them. Exterior detailing is concerned with the restoration and cleaning of the surface of a car. The restoration may sometimes be done so that it exceeds the original condition the vehicle was in at the time of purchase.

External components such as tires, the body, windows, chrome trim, and wheels are the target of the exterior version of this procedure. The methods and products used are determined by certain factors such as surface type, and preferences of a detailer, and surface condition. There is a wide range of products used for this job. Some of them include acid-free degreasers, waxes, polishes, drying towels, brushes, detail clay, detergents, and brake fluid.

Conversely, interior detailing is the cleaning and restoration of interior of a vehicle. Different materials are used to make the various parts of the interior of vehicles. Some of these materials are plastics, leather, synthetic carpet upholstery, carbon fiber composites, vinyl, and natural fibers. The diversity of the materials calls for diverse methods of cleaning to be used. Removal of dust is however often done by brushing. Other techniques used include use of foam and liquid chemicals, vacuuming, and steam cleaning.

The process entails several sub-steps, including waxing. Waxing is important for several reasons. First, it deposits a protective layer over the paint of the vehicle. This protective layer makes regular repainting not necessary. The layer also makes the vehicle look glossy and shiny. Therefore, the car looks much better after being waxed than it did before.

Since waxing helps to preserve the paint, eliminating the need for repainting, it saves money. Detailing also helps to restore the car to near-new condition. Driving a car that looks new brings with it a feeling of satisfaction. Also, the car will appear more comfortable.

Lastly, this process has the ability to boost the resale value of a vehicle greatly. When the process is done professionally, the value of a car will be improved when it is sold. Such cars fetch higher prices compared to ones that have not had the process done.
