One of the most preferred and used raw material used in production of commodities made out of timber is wood. The characteristics vary, and therefore, you would find that each and every one of them has its own unique features. The characteristics may vary from the color to the texture of the timber. This is the reason why each can be used for different purposes. There is another species of tree that produces a special kind of wood. This is curly Koa wood, which is known all over the world because it has a beautiful outlook. It also has a variety of colors such as red, amber, and cinnamon browns among others.

There are certain characteristics that attribute it to being famous, one of them being its decorative color and grain texture. The color portrayed by this type of timber is attributed to the type of soil it grew in, and its age.

There are certain features about the lumber that make it widely used in making certain artefacts. Example of such features is its high resistance to ware and resistance to insects. One other such feature is that it possesses a chatoyant property that is normally likened to that of a cat eyes, which causes it to shimmer. This property tends to give the timber a three dimensional view.

Curly Koa is known for being swirly and burl. Only one percent of Koa trees produce it. This is why it may be rare and highly valued all over the globe. It may be highly stable and performs well. In addition, it becomes beautiful, especially when finished with varnish.

Koa timber has been in use for a very long period of time. With its early uses, the users employed it to make bowls and carving tools, which served as knives by then. They were also used to make instrumental artefacts. Nowadays, the uses are not that in contrast. They are used to make tons of things such as furniture, boxes made from lumber just to mention a few.

This wood is one of the most expensive offered in the market today. One of the reasons contributing to this is that the tree can only grow and thrive in a certain kind of region and no other place. It requires optimal kind of conditions that are only available in a specific region. This is one of the major causes that contribute to the scarcity of lumber.

The lumber is made available in public lands and can only be harvested while dead or if it undergoing the process of decay; it is considered a taboo if you cut it while it is still growing and healthy. It is also illegal if cut from private lands. One could risk serving serious legal issues if caught dealing with it. This makes it to be scarce; hence the high costs of purchasing it.

Koa is by far the most highly wood in the world and that is why it fetches such high prices. It might be large and spreads across six to twelve meters wide also being among the fastest growing trees in the world. This is the reason why it is highly sort out. Apart from that they also provide habitat for birds and also offered places for worship. These and among so many other uses show just how important the trees really are. Therefore, their preservation and conservation are paramount.
