How Many People Are Employed In America Currently?

By Ronald White

The robots and other machines that are replacing humans in the industry lines are also cheaper to operate, do not need insurance, retirement plans, and other costs associated with maintaining employees. They work 24 hours without getting tired. With all these in mind, we must accept that the role of the human in the factories and even offices is diminishing. Well, the government can do something to increase the level of employment. When we ask how many people are employed in America currently, the number can be as high as 125 million people, what what does this mean to you?

When the government releases statistics that there has been a surge in the job market, what they are not telling you is that the surge is as a result of the rise in self-employment. More people are now being pushed into self-employment, most of whom were not ready to take the leap. This goes in the U. S, Europe, Asia and all other continents. There is no doubt that there has been a shift in the job landscape.

Then, no technology could be deployed by large companies to allow their employees to work remotely. The employees had to come physically to the office from where they would interact with their colleagues. Fast forward to today, everything has changed.

There is no doubt that the recession is responsible for the death of jobs in most economies. Today, many people, including young college graduates start their entrepreneurship journey; not as a response to the urge to live out their lifelong dream, but as the means to keep a roof over their heads.

There is a definition of unemployment, believe it or not. It is defined as a person who does not have a job and has been looking unsuccessfully for over four weeks. There is a less personal definition. It is expressed in percentages, and it is derived by dividing the number of job seekers by the number of workers in the job force. This percentage right now is 9.3%, the highest in over a decade.

There are consequences of unemployment beyond just the economic hardship. These include an associated higher crime rate. There are more homicides and suicides linked to the unemployed people. Child abuse and alcoholism escalate. The youths are even harder hit. They cannot gain on-the-job skills and training, so their future is negatively impacted. They are often seen as not being employable since they have never worked and have not been able to find a job.

The business starts as a desperate measure to earn money for rent and other bills. However, in the process, you realize that the business has a potential of becoming a well-paying employer. Job security is good, but what happens when the job is not there anymore? Well, self-employment is the answer.

Self-employment comes with flexibility. As a skilled professional, you don, t have to spend your prime years working for someone else. You can easily market your services over the internet and up your earnings to a level that your employer cannot offer you.

We can put a number on the economic costs, such as the decrease in the Gross Domestic Product, which is an economic health indicator. No one has been able, however, to quantify the social costs to the individual and families. Additionally, there are increased costs associated with the greater need for welfare programs, food stamps, Medicaid, and other economic programs to help those who have no job. The cost of unemployment is not just an individual thing; it is a universal one.
